This standard specifies the characteristics and test methods relating to pipe and fittings manufactured from unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) [PVC-U], with a nominal diameter ranging from 200 mm to 1200 mm. This standard applies to non-perforated or perforated pipes whose wall is smooth inside and outside, fabricated by single extrusion or by multiple coextruded layers (multilayer wall), and also applies to dual-wall corrugated pipe and to corrugated open-profile pipe, either spiral or ringshaped ribbed. These pipes are used underground to carry gravity flowing liquids such as sewage lines and soil drainage. This standard applies to moulded poly(vinyl chloride) fittings of a diameter ranging from 200 mm to 450 mm (with a smooth wall inside and outside). This standard also applies to fittings made from pipe cuttings, whose wall is smooth on the inside and may be smooth on the outside or have solid ribs. NOTE — In this standard, the term “fabricated fitting” is used for fittings made from pipe cuttings. This document was developed to serve as a reference document for conformity assessment activities of specific products. NOTE — Conformity assessment is defined as the systematic examination of the extent to which a (product, process, service) fulfils specified requirements.
