Precast Reinforced Concrete Sewer Maintenance Holes, Catch Basins, Valve Chambers and Pumping Stations
This standard applies to precast reinforced concrete sewer maintenance holes, catch basins, valve chambers and pumping stations intended for use to a maximum depth of 7 m in sanitary sewer systems, combined sewer systems, storm sewer and drinking water systems. NOTE — Even if they are not mentioned in the scope of this standard, certain elements described in this standard may be used in water retention works. When the depth exceeds 7 m, sewer maintenance holes, catch basins, valve chambers and pumping stations shall have a design specifically addressing structural strength and leaktightness. The structural analysis (including handling equipment) of sewer maintenance holes, catch basins, valve chambers and pumping stations shall be conducted by the manufacturer based on their type of use and the analysis shall be approved by a design engineer member of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ). NOTE — For requirements concerning the installation of sewer maintenance holes, catch basins and valve chambers, referral to the standardized specification BNQ 1809-300 is recommended. Cast iron shims, frames, covers, grates and catch basins traps are excluded from the scope of this standard. NOTE — Grates, covers and catch basin traps are covered by the standard BNQ 3221-500. This standard was developed to serve as a reference document for conformity evaluation activities of specific products. NOTE — Conformity evaluation is defined as the systematic examination of the extent to which a product fulfils specified requirements.
