Soils – Standard Penetration Test (STP) and Sampling with a Split-Barrel Sampler

This document specifies the method for the Standard Penetration Test (SPT) used to determine the penetration index N in a vertical drilling and obtain a disturbed soil sample. The Standard Penetration Test is used during geotechnical investigations for the purpose of determining the nature and compaction of the soil. NOTE — AnnexA provides, for general guidance purposes, various information regarding this test method.
