The purpose of this document is intended to establish a certification protocol for ductile-iron pipe and compact fittings, and gray-iron or ductile-iron castings (manhole frames, grates, covers, cesspool traps and valve boxes) for civil engineering works, according to the requirements of Standards AWWA C153, NQ 3221-500 and NQ 3623-085. NOTE — Standard AWWA C153 on ductile-iron compact fittings is only published in English. Standard NQ 3221-500 on gray-iron or ductile-iron castings (manhole frames, grates, covers, cesspool traps and valve boxes) for civil engineering works is only published in French. Standard NQ 3623-085 on ductileiron pipe for water pressure piping systems is published in both French and English. In case of incompatibility, the French version prevails. This document is for manufacturers seeking to have the conformity of their products recognized by the Bureau de normalisation du Québec (BNQ). It is important to note that at the time of publication of this protocol, the document Certification Requirements AWWA C153 is not published. It is only when the document will be published that BNQ’s Certification Program AWWA C153 may be offered. Please contact the BNQ customer service to learn about the publication date of the document.
