CGA 12.6-M94 (R1999)
1.1 Scope
1.1.1 This Standard applies to an independently operating natural gas compressor package intended for use as a natural gas vehicle refuelling appliance, known hereinafter as a VRA.
1.1.2 These requirements apply to a VRA which utilizes integral storage not in excess of that permitted by Section 2.4.
1.1.3 This Standard applies to a VRA intended for the following:
(a) for natural gas only, and delivered at a flow rate not in excess of 0.3 m³/min (10 ft³/min) at standard conditions;
(b) to deliver natural gas at a temperature-compensated pressure not exceeding 20 680 kPa at 21°C (3000 psig at 70°F), and in any event shall not exceed 24 800 kPa (3600 psig);
(c) for outdoor installation only in non-hazardous locations;
(d) for installation in accordance with CGA-B106-1990, CGA Preliminary Installation Code for Vehicle Refuelling Appliance without Storage Facilities; and
(e) only for direct fuelling of vehicles having a properly installed fuel containment system.
1.1.4 This Standard applies to a VRA which is designed to not create a hazard through leakage.
1.1.5 This Standard applies only to a VRA that is certified as a system which shall include the following specifically approved components: temperature compensation device, breakaway device, delivery hoses, and fuel transfer nozzles.
1.1.6 This Standard applies to a multiple-hose VRA and multiple accessories (as covered under the Scope) which form a part of the VRA.
1.1.7 This Standard applies to a VRA intended for use on a system voltage of 600 volts or less, designed to be used in accordance with the rules of CAN/CSA-C22.1-1990 Canadian Electrical Code, Part I.
1.1.8 A VRA is investigated under this Standard for reliable and safe operation at ambient temperatures of -40°C (-40°F) and the manufacturer's declared maximum ambient temperature rating, which is not less than 40°C (104°F).
1.1.9 This Standard does not apply to natural gas compressor packa ges intended for interconnection with ground storage vessels.
1.1.10 This Standard does not apply to natural gas compressor packages that are intended to be connected, on the delivery side, to a piping manifold.
1.1.11 This Standard contains yard/pound equivalents to SI (Me tric) units, the purpose being to allow the Standard to be used in yard/pound units. Yard/pound equivalents may be approximate. SI (Metric) shall be regarded as the requirement.
