Safety requirements for electrical equipment for measurement, control, and laboratory use - Part 2-020: Particular requirements for laboratory centrifuges
This National Standard of Canada is based on International Standard IEC 1010-2-020:1992. 1. Scope and Object This clause of Part 1 is applicable except as follows: 1.1 Scope This Particular Standard specifies requirements for the safety of electrically powered laboratory centrifuges designed to be installed and used in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electr ical Code, Part I. 1.1.1 Aspects excluded from scope Addition: - additional precautions which may need to be observed when centrifuging materials which are flammable or explosive (see 5.4.101); - additional precautions which may need to be observed when centrifuging materials that chemically react vigorously (see 5.4.101). 1.1.2 Equipment excluded from scope Addition: - rotating electrical machinery within the scope of IEC 34; - CENTRIFUGES (used in explosive atmospheres) 1.2 Object Addition: - contact with moving parts (see 7.2); - CENTRIFUGE movement during any DISRUPTION (see 7.3.101); - expelled parts (see 7.5); - small particles from ROTOR ASSEMBLIES, expelled in air exhaust systems (see 7.5.104); - high energy chemical reaction after ROTOR DISRUPTION (see 7.5.105); - ineffectiveness of BIOSEALS (see 13.101). 1.4 Environmental conditions Modification: Modify the third dash as follows: - temperature +2°C to +40°C;
