Specifies performance and construction requirements for systems intended to collect and dispose of waste anaesthetic gases and vapours released from equipment used in administering such anaesthetics or exhaled by a patient connected to such equipment. The main aim of this document is to ensure that these systems are effective in their intended purpose, yet pose minimal risk to the patient. Requirements for marking and testing methods for determining compliance with this standard are also included. The Standard does not address matters of maintenance or design optimization.
