1. Scope 1.1 This Standard sets forth the requirements for the construction, test, and operation of permanently or cord-connected 120 V ac detertors and 12 V dc deterctors, intended for use in the home and in recreational vehicles, for the detection of fuel gases (natural gas, methane, and propane), in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I. No other function is implied or intended. 1.2 This Standard doe snot apply to detectors intended for use in hazardous locations, as defined in the Canadian Electrical Code, Part I. 1.3 This Standard does not apply to the type of gas detectors included within the scope of CSA Standard C22.2 No.152, Combustible Gas Detection Instruments. 1.4 Requirements for double-insulated appliances are specified in Clause 7.
