Performance Requirements for Proportional Flow Control Devices, with Protection from Cross-Connection via Hydronic Water, for use in Potable Water Installations
Scope 1.2.1 Description This device consists of a single potable cold water supply inlet and outlet, and a single hydronic supply inlet and outlet, a means of dynamic flow control, an atmospheric vent, and two sets of three dynamic seals between the potable and hydronic flow paths. 1.2.2 Threaded or other connections Pipe threads and other connections shall conform to local plumbing and mechanical codes. Pipe threads shall comply with ANSI/ASME B1.20.1. Dryseal threads shall comply with ANSI/ASME B1.20.3. Female pipe threaded connections shall be so constructed that it is impossible to run a pipe into them far enough to restrict the flow through the device or interfere with working parts. Connections achieved by push-fit fittings shall comply with ANSI/ASSE 1061. Connections achieved by press connect fittings shall comply with ASME B16.51 or IAPMO/ANSI/CAN Z1117. Connections achieved by PEX fittings shall comply with ASTM F1807 or F1960. Other Connections not specified above shall be in accordance with the applicable connection standard. 1.2.3 Size Range Inlet and outlet sizes are 19 mm DN 10 (3/4"). 1.2.4 Flow Range The maximum rated flow rate on the potable flow path shall be 0.57 L/sec (9.0 GPM). The maximum rated flow rate on the hydronic flow path shall be 0.57 L/sec (9.0 GPM). 1.2.5 Temperature Range The maximum operating temperature for the device is 90°C (195°F). 1.2.6 Pressure Range The maximum static pressure, on the potable and hydronic flow paths, is 1241 kPa (180 psi.)
