CSA C22.2 No. 62031:21
1 Scope
1.1
This Standard specifies general and safety requirements for
a) non-integrated light-emitting diode (LED) modules (LEDni modules) and semi-integrated LED
modules (LEDsi modules) for operation under constant voltage, constant current, or constant
power; and
b) integrated LED modules (LEDi modules) for use on dc supplies up to 250 V or ac supplies up to
600 V.
LED modules within the scope of this Standard can be integral, built-in, or independent.
This Standard is not applicable for LED lamps.
1.2
This Standard applies to units for use in non-hazardous locations that are intended to be installed or
used in accordance with CSA C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code (CE Code), Part I, and also to units that are
intended for connection to isolated (non-utility connected) power sources such as generators, batteries,
fuel cells, solar cells, and ac/dc converters.
1.3
Requirements for LED modules, intended for connection to a circuit described in Clause 1.1 b), are
specified in Annex DB.
Notes:
1) The safety requirements for separate controlgear are specified in CSA C22.2 No. 61347-2-13.
2) In the requirements of this Standard, where both types of LED modules are addressed, i.e., integrated
modules and modules with external controlgear, the term “modules” is used instead. The term “LED
module(s)” is used to denote modules without external controlgear. The term “integrated LED module(s)” is
used to denote modules with internal controlgear.
1.4
The values given in SI units are the units of record for the purposes of this Standard. The values given in
parentheses are for information and comparison only.
