Ductile Cast Iron Piping and Joints for Drinking Water and Sewer Line Systems — Characteristics and Test Methods
This document specifies the requirements and test methods for the dimensional, physical, and mechanical characteristics of the ductile cast iron piping and joints used for both drinking water and sewer piping. It applies to piping with bell-and-spigot joints 75 mm to 1600 mm in diameter and piping with mechanical joints 75 mm to 600 mm in diameter. NOTES — 1 The requirements for the installation of piping covered by this document in pressurized drinking water and sewer systems are defined in the documents BNQ 1809-300 and AWWA C600. 2 The physical, mechanical, and dimensional characteristics of gray or ductile cast iron fittings used with the piping covered by this document are specified in the documents AWWA C110/A21.10 and AWWA C153/A21.53. 3 Piping covered by this document may carry liquids other than drinking water and sewer liquids if an appropriate coating is applied. For these use types, it is recommended to consult the manufacturer. 4 Piping with flanged joints is not covered by this document, but for informational purposes, Annex A presents the piping assembly method for this type of joint. This document was developed to serve as a reference document for the conformity assessment activities related to specific products. NOTE — Conformity assessment is defined as the systematic examination of the extent to which a product fulfils specified requirements.
