SCOPE This standard applies to free draining cohesionless soils containing up to 10 % in weight of particles able to pass through a 80-mm sieve and which contain not more than 10 % in weight of particles retained on a 80-mm sieve. NOTE — When the soil contains from 10 % to 30 % in weight of particles retained on the 80-mm sieve, this standard may be applied using a correction factor according to ASTM Standard D4718. This standard does not apply to soils containing more than 30 % in weight of particles retained on the 80-mm sieve.
