Neck Protectors for Ice Hockey and Ringette Players
SCOPE This standard specifies the characteristics of neck protectors that are designed to reduce the risk of direct lacerations on the neck caused by contact with a hockey skate blade in the protective zone of the neck protector, as well as the test methods for verifying some of the characteristics. ATTENTION - - The tests required to ensure that a neck protector conforms to the requirements of this standard do not attempt to predict the performance of the neck protector in all possible situations. - In order for a neck protector to protect adequately, it must be in good condition, fit properly and not be altered in anyway. - This standard does not deal with protection from the impact of pucks, sticks or other objects. - This standard does not deal with accessories that are sometimes incorporated into a protective equipment together with a neck protector. This document was developed to serve as a reference document for conformity evaluation activities of specific products. NOTE - Conformity evaluation is defined as the systematic examination of the extent to which a product fulfils specified requirements.
