Backwater Valves and Check Valves Made of Cast Iron or Thermoplastic Used in Drainage Systems - Characteristics and Test Methods
SCOPE This standard applies to backwater valves designed to be used in drainage systems (see note) and to check valves designed to be used in drainage systems that do not drain by gravity to the building sewer, in compliance with the requirements of the National Plumbing Code of Canada - 2005. NOTE - The National Plumbing Code of Canada - 2005 defines the term drainage system as follows: "an assembly of pipes, fittings, fixtures, traps and appurtenances that is used to convey sewage, clear water waste or storm water to a public sewer or a private sewage disposal system, but does not include subsoil drainage pipes". This document was developed to serve as a reference document for conformity evaluation activities of specific products. NOTE - Conformity evaluation is defined as the systematic examination of the extent to which a product fulfils specified requirements.
