PURPOSE AND SCOPE The purpose of this standard is to established the quality requirement for the soft cellular polyurethane materials intended to resist repeated applications of pressure. Polyurethane foams are classified accordint to type, density, firmness ant other characteristics such as burning behaviour, antistatic and antimicrobials. This standard applies to virgin polyurethane foams without filler, used for upholstery. It covers foam blocks,those cut into different shapes (bands,sheets,ect.) as well as moulded foams. It does not apply to foams prepared in situ, to foams intended for carpet backing, nor to bonded foams produced by the adhesion of small pieces of urethane foam to each other. This standard was developed to serve as a reference document for conformity evaluation activities of specific products. Note-Conformity evaluation is defined as the systematic examination of the extent to which a product fulfuls specified requirements.
