ABOVEGROUND STEEL TANKS FOR THE STORAGE OF COMBUSTIBLE LIQUIDS INTENDED TO BE USED AS HEATING AND/OR GENERATOR FUELS
1. SCOPE 1.1 This Standard covers the design and construction of aboveground steel tanks of the non-pressure type, intended for installation inside or outside buildings and for the storage of combustible liquids intended to be used as heating fuel and/or generator fuel. NOTE 1: These tanks may also be used for the storage of used oil as a heating and/or generator fuel. For tanks intended solely for the collection of used oil, refer to the Standard for Tank Assemblies for the Collection of Used Oil, ULC-S652. NOTE 2: For rectangular tanks connected to, and integral with, the generator, refer to the Document for Aboveground Rectangular Steel Tanks for Flammable and Combustible Liquids, ULC/ORD-C142.18. 1.2 This Standard covers single wall tanks and tanks with secondary containment. 1.3 This Standard covers tanks having a maximum capacity of 2500 L. 1.4 This Standard covers tanks fabricated, inspected and tested for leakage before shipment from the factory. 1.5 This Standard covers the design and construction of tanks for use in stationary installations. The installation of such tanks shall be in accordance with, but not limited to, any of the following documents: A National Fire Code of Canada, Part 4; B CAN/CSA-B139, Installation Code for Oil Burning Equipment; and C Regulations of the appropriate authority having jurisdiction.
