1. Scope 1.1 This Standard covers requirements for visible signal devices for use in accordance with the Standard for the Installation of Fire alarm Systems, CAN/ULC-S524, and in accordance with C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, Part I. 1.2 These requirements cover visible signal devices for use in ordinary (non-hazardous) indoor locations and outdoor locations. 1.3 Visual signal devices for use in hazardous locations shall comply with the requirements of this Standard and the applicable requirements of the C22.1, Canadian Electrical Code, with respect to the location hazard. 1.4 A visual signal device (or product) as defined by this Standard is a unit assembly suitable for separate installation as a component of a fire alarm system.
