1 PURPOSE AND SCOPe The purpose of this document is to establish a certification protocol for composts used as organic soil conditioners and produced according to the requirements of Standard CAN/BNQ 0413-200/1997. This certification protocol is based on Document NQ 9902-001/1993, which serves as a basis for certification and specifies certain rules and procedures as they apply specifically to composts, the subject of this document. This document targets producers who wish to have the conformity of their products recognized by the Bureau de normalisation du Québec (BNQ), as well as persons responsible for the enforcement of Canadian regulations applying to the production and use of composts, and anyone wishing to benefit from the BNQ's certification program, based on the requirements of Standard CAN/BNq 0413-200/1997 and this certification protocol.
