1. Scope 1.1 These requirements apply to factory-built chimney connectors and wall pass-through assemblies that do not require field fabrication. They are for use with gas, liquid and solid-fuel-fired residential appliances and building heating equipment where the flue-gas temperatures do not normally exceed 650ºC. Factory-built chimney connectors are intended for use inside buildings to form a connection from an appliance to a factory-built chimney suitable for use with solid fuel, or to a masonry chimney. 1.2 Factory-built chimney connectors and chimney connector - wall pass-through assemblies, as covered by this Standard, shall be capable of installation in accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions as specified in Section 5. 1.3 A wall pass-through assembly provides a transition between a residential appliance chimney connector and the inlet to a masonry chimney at a junction where a combustible wall, adjacent to the chimney shall be protected from unsafe temperatures.
