CAN/CSA-E968-99 (R2018)
1. Scope
This Standard applies to self-ballasted lamps intended for use in lighting
equipment, designed to be installed on branch circuits not exceeding 750 V and
used in accordance with the rules of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Part
I.
Note: Manufacturers designing products for use in Canada may find a helpful
summary of the equipment-related requirements of the CEC, Part I, in CSa
publication SPE-2000.
This standard specifies the safety and interchangeability requirements,
together with the test methods and conditions, required to show compliance of
tubular fluorescent and other gas-discharge lamps with integrated means for
controlling starting and stable operation (self-ballasted lamps), intended for
domestic and similar general lighting purposes, having:
- a rated wattage up to 60 W;
- a rated voltage between 110 V and 130 V;
- E26 Edison screw caps.
The requirements of this standard relate only to type testing.
Recommendations for whole product testing or batch testing are under
consideration.
This Standard is concerned only with safety criteria and does not take into
account the performance of self-ballasted lamps with respect to luminous flux,
life, or power consumption characteristics. Readers should refer to IEc
60969 and CAN/CSA-C861 for such characteristics with respect to types normally
used for general lighting services.
