Unplasticized Poly(Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Rigid Pipe and Fittings, 150 mm inDiameter or Smaller, for Underground Sewage Applications
1. PURPOSE AND SCOPe The purpose of this standard is to establish requirements for dimensions, characteristics and test methods relating to rigid pipe* and fittings, manufactured from PVC compounds, used in underground applications for conveying wastewaters flowing by gravity. It applies to rigid, non-perforated, smooth interior wall (see note), pipe and fittings with a nominal diameter equal to or smaller than 150 mm, generally equipped with sockets for permanent solvent cement assembly or for elastic gasket seal assembly. This standard applies especially to the drainage piping listed below: a) sewage piping, branches and sanitary building drains connected to the municipal sewage system; b) sewage piping, installed under buildings (private domain connections); c) sewage piping, installed outside of buildings (private domain connections). NOTE - Pipe and fittings may be smooth or corrugated, single or smooth walls, or can be coextruded, but they shall have a smooth inner wall. * The pipes covered by this standard are divided into two stiffness categories, based on their deflection strength, and two types of walls (see Chapter 4).
