1. Scope 1.1 This standard applies to latex paint for exterior use on primed wood and on masonry surfaces including concrete, brick, cinder, stucco, concrete block and unglazed tile. 1.2 It may be used on unglazed asbestos-cement shingles and siding¹; however as most asbestos-siding is treated with waterproofing material, at least one year shall elapse before coating with this paint. 1.3 Although paint to this standard is not intended for use on metal, it may be used on incidental metal if such surfaces are suitably precoated with primer. 1.4 The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous.
