1. Scope 1.1 This Standard applies to anticorrosive primer suitable for use as a shop primer or a field primer on ferrous surfaces such as steel bridges and structural steel where good durability to atmospheric exposure is required. 1.2 The primer is characterized by easy brushing or spraying on steel, good penetration into voids (rather than bridging the depressions), ability to cling to sharp edges (such as bolt heads), and good weather resistance. Its slow drying time may limit its use as a shop primer. The primer is suitable for rural, industrial and coastal atmospheres. 1.3 The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous.
