1. SCOPE 1.1 This standard applies to two types of distillate fuel for marine applications (naval) such as gas turbine power plants, high- and medium-speed internal combustion engines of the compression-ignition type, and boilers. Fuel produced to this standard is not intended for use in aircraft turbine engines. 1.2 Type 11 is intended for equipment operating at an ambient temperature equal to or above -1°C (see also par. 6.24). This grade is the primary fuel for naval requirements and was previously described by CGSB standard 3-GP-11Mb. Type 15 is intended for use in equipment operating at an ambient temperature above -12°C. This grade was previously described by CGSB standard 3-GP-15Mb. 1.3 The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous.
