Methods of Testing Paints and Pigments Blushing Resistance of Lacquer Finishes
1. PURPOSE AND SCOPE 1.1 This standard describes four methods¹ for determining the resistance to blushing of lacquer and lacquer thinners: Method A - Blushing Resistance of Lacquer Thinners at Normal Temperature and Humidity Method B - Blushing Resistance of Lacquers at Normal Temperature and Humidity Method C - Blushing Resistance of Lacquers at High Temperature and Humidity Method D - Blushing Resistance of Lacquers at High Humidity. 1.2 The testing and evaluation of a product against this method may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this method has the responsibility to consult the appropriate authorities and to establish appropriate health and safety practices in conjunction with any existing applicable regulatory requirements prior to its use. ¹ Method A supersedes 1-GP-71 Method 38.1, Method B supersedes Method 38.2, Method C supersedes Method 38.3 and Method D supersedes Method 38.4.
