Fire Fighting - Protective Helmets
INTRODUCTIOn This standard is comparable to NFPA 1972 (1992) Standard. It is also unilaterally aligned with CAN/CSA-Z94.3-92, Standard for Optical Requirements of Face Shields. 1 PUPOSe The purpose of this standard is to describe the physical characteristics, minimum performance requirements and testing methods used to verify the conformance of protective helmets used for fire fighting and related activities, excluding wildland fire fighting, proximity fire fighting and entry fire fighting. 2 SCOPe The standard applies to protective helmets used for fire fighting and related activities, excluding wildland fire fighting, proximity fire fighting and entry fire fighting, which may require protective equipment offering a different level of protection than that targeted by this standard. The standard does not include performance criteria for accessory components that may be added to the protective helmet.
