Textile Test Methods Flame Resistance - 45° Angle Test - One Second Flame Impingement
1. PURPOSE AND SCOPE 1.1 This method determines the flame spread properties of a textile material when a specimen is supported at an angle of 45° and a flame is applied to its upper surface for 1 s. 1.2 This method does not apply to textile products that cannot be tested because of size and/or shape such as shoe laces, textile floor coverings, mattresses, wigs and textiles that cannot be compressed to 6 mm thickness or less by the pressure exerted by the holder clamps. 1.3 The testing and evaluation of a product against this method may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this method has the responsibility to consult the appropriate authorities and to establish appropriate health and safety practices in conjunction with any existing applicable regulatory requirements prior to its use.
