Scope 1.1 This Information Product describes those aspects of management systems which are intended to ensure that the environmental issues and concerns arising from the day-to-day activities of an organization are addressed. 1.2 Although the Information Product focuses on the more formal aspects of an environmental management system rather than on organizational behaviour or performance, these issues are also addressed. Additionally, this Information Product provides guidance on the development and implementation of environmental management systems, and their integration into existing management systems. 1.3 This Information Product is applicable to any organization, regardless of size, type, or level of sophistication, that is interested in developing and/or implementing an environmental management system. 1.4 This Information Product is not intended to create new legal liabilities, expand existing rights or obligations, waive legal defenses, or otherwise affect the legal position of an organization, and is not intended to be used against an organization in any legal proceeding for any purpose.
