CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.601.1.2-94 (R1999)

This standard applies only to MEDICAL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT, MEDICAL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY EQUIPMENT used in medical electrical application, and all other equipment forming part of MEDICAL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS, hereinafter referred to as EQUIPMENT and/or SYSTEMS designed to be installed and used in accordance with the rules of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1. The requirements of this Standard are in addition to those of CSA Standard CAN/CSA-C22.2 No.601.1, Medical electrical equipment, Part 1: General requirements for safety, and its supplement C22.2 No.601.1S1, (adopted amendment 1 to IEC 601-1), hereinafter referred to as the General Standard. For the purposes of testing and approving EQUIPMENT and/or SYSTEMS covered within the scope of this Standard, the EQUIPMENT and/or SYSTEMS must meet the combined requirements, as applicable, of both this Standard and the General Standard. This standard specifies general requirements and tests for ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY of EQUIPMENT and/or SYSTEMS and serves as the basis of possible additional ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY requirements and tests of Particular Standards.
