1.1
This standard provides recommended course guidelines for the minimum essential
training of, and a procedure for the certification of two levels of personnel
to perform police and security radiography.
1.2
This standard covers only those radiographic testing procedures and
techniques in which training has been provided in accordance with the course
requirements and guidelines established in Appendix A and Appendix B.
1.3
Certification to this standard shall provide recognition of the qualifications
and competence of an individual to perform basic radiography using low energy
portable equipment and advanced radiography using a full range of radiography
equipment.
1.4
This certification procedure does not of necessity cover radiographic testing
procedures and techniques required for specific situations. Organizations and
agencies making use of this standard shall determine that personnel performing
radiographic testing procedures and techniques required for specific situations
are further trained and qualified to meet the additional requirements as
outlined in Appendix F before they perform police radiographic nondestructive
testing in such specific situations.
1.5
The standard provides for the testing and qualifying of personnel in the
general aspects of radiation hazard control in radiogrpahy. It does not
qualify the individual in the safe handling of specific devices or in the safe
operation of specialized procedures. Organizations making use of this standard
shall ensure that personnel are familiar with relevant equipment and are
qualified to work safely with this equipment.
1.6
Organizations and personnel making use of this standard shall comply with such
requirements of the relevant regulatory authorities as may apply, i.e. Atomic
Energy Control Board, Federal or Provincial Health Authorities, etc.
