1.1 This Standard sets out requirements for the proper selection, use, and care of respiratory protective devices and for the administration of an effective respiratory protection program. 1.2 This Standard does not apply to (a) underwater breathing devices; (b) aircraft oxygen systems; (c) military masks; or (d) inhalators and resuscitators. 1.3 In this Standard the word "shall" indicates a mandatory requirement; "should" indicates a recommendation which is advised but is not mandatory. Notes accompanying clauses provide explanatory or informative material that is not properly part of this Standard.
