Z243.110 Series-93 (R2004)
Z243.110.1-93
1 Scope and Field of Application
1.1 This Standard defines the procedures for the assignment and registration of numeric and alphanumeric name values for all organizations that wish to have numeric and/or alphanumeric names publicly known and registered at the national level for the purpose of open systems communication.
1.2 Registration ensures that name values are unique within a prescribed organization (eg, Canada in the case of this Standar d), are assigned in accordance with the appropriate ISO/IEC Standard and are available to interested parties.
1.3 The National Registration Authority appointed by SCC and Canadian National Organization for International Telecommunication Union - Telecommunications (CNO/ITU-T) is responsible in Canada for the registration at the national level of organization names in the hierarchically structured naming sc heme for OSI objects.
1.4 Due to differing registration requirements, distinct registration name spaces exist for the following types of OSI information object:
(a) numeric name values for Organization Identifiers for use in Data Country Code (DCC) scheme of NSAP addressing (see CSA Standard Z243.110.2);
(b) numeric name values for organizations for use in constructing object identifiers (see CSA Standard Z243.110.3);
(c) alphanumeric name values for use in constructing directory names (see CSA Standard Z243.110.4); and
(d) alphanumeric name values for message handling domain names (see CSA Standard Z243.110.5).
1.5 An organization that has a name value registered with the National Registration Authority becomes a recognized subauthority for assigning names to organizational units and other objects (appropriate to the type of registered object) within its domain for the purpose of OSI communication. The name value registered with the National Registration Authority shall be prefixed to all names assigned by that organization to objects of the appropriate type in its role as an OSI registration subauthority.
1.6 Any organization that does not wish to be tied to Canada in the hierarchically structured naming scheme may act, subject to Canadian national regulations, as a registration subauthority directly under the ISO. To do so such an organization must obtain an ICD (international code designator) value from the British Standards Institute, designated by the ISO as the international registration authority responsible for ICD values.
Z243.110.2-93
1. Scope
1.1
This Standard provides guidelines for the allocation of Open Systems
Interconnection (OSI) NSAP addresses of the Data Country Code format, over
which the National Registration Authority has direct authority.
1.2
This Standard specifies the structure and semantics of the DSP part of the NSAp
address when the value of the AFI and IDI parts of the address are 39 and 124,
respectively, and does not exclude the use of NSAP addresses based on other AFi
and IDI values.
1.3
This Standard also specifies the minimum criteria that an organization must
satisfy in order to register an organization identifier at the national level
and provides additional guidelines for who should and who should not register
at the national level. When an organization identifier is registered for use
in a DCC format NSAP address, it shall be used in accordance with this
Standard.
1.4
The field of application includes all environments in which the DCC NSAp
address format is used, regardless of what routing architecture and protocols
are in use.
Z243.110.3-93
1. Scope
1.1
This Standard provides guidelines for the assignment of object identifier
component values as defined in International Standard ISO 8824, and in
accordance with International Standard ISO/IEC 9834-1. These guidelines
address only the administrative function of assigning object identifier
component values and do not address any technical role associated with object
registration.
1.2
This Standard applies to two object identifier subtrees:
(a) the subtree, hereafter referred to as the ISO subtree, defined by Canada
(value 124 as specified in International Standard ISO 3166) as its root node
which is subordinate to the member-body (value 2) node which is subordinate to
the ISO (value 1) node which is subordinate to the International standard ISo
8824 node; and
(b) the subtree, hereafter referred to as the joint ISO-CCITT subtree, defined
by Canada (value 124 as specified in ISO Standard 3166) as its root node which
is subordinate to the country (value 16) node which is subordinate to the
joint-ISO-CCITT (value 2) node which is subordinate to the International
Standard 8824 root node.
Z243.110.4-93
1. Scope
1.1
This Standard provides guidelines for the assignment of RDNs, as defined in
International Standard ISO/IEC 9594-2 and in accordance with International
Standard ISO/IEC 9834-1.
1.2
This Standard addresses registration requirements that apply to that portion of
the Directory Information Tree immediately below the vertex assigned to Canada,
having the RDN of countryName=CA. It is outside the scope of this Standard to
fully specify a naming scheme for the entire Canadian portion of the Directory
Information Tree.
1.3
It is outside the scope of this Standard to specify the procedures for the
assignment of values for Directory attributes that are not used in the
construction of RDNs.
Z243.110.5-93
1. Scope
1.1
This Standard provides guidelines for the construction of standard attribute
types administration-domain-name and provate-domain name, as defined in
International Standard ISO/IEC 10021 (equivalent CCITT X.400 series of
recommendations). ADMD names and PRMD names are assigned from a single name
space, the management-domain-names (MD names). A single MD name may be used as
an ADMD name, as a PRMD name or both.
1.2
The guideline focus on the mnemonic form of O/R Address, CCITT X.400 Form 1
Variant 1. The Directory Name form of O/R Name is outside the scope of these
guidelines; the guidelines for this form are provided in CSA Standard
Z243.110.4.
