Part l--Ballasts for Use with Fluorescent Lamps
1.1
These requirements apply to ballasts of the resistance, reactance, and
electronic (solid state) types for use with fluorescent lamps, involving
potentials of 1000 V to ground or less during either starting or running
conditions, whether intended for mounting in a luminaire or otherwise and
designed to be employed on circuits of not more than 600 V between supply
conductors in accordance with the Rules of Part I of the Canadian Electrical
Code.
Part 2--Ballasts for Use with High-Intensity Discharge Lamps
1.1
This Part of the Standard applies to ballasts for use with high-intensity
electric discharge lamps of the metallic vapor types including low pressure
sodium and similar types, intended for permanent installation on branch
circuits of not more than 600 V between conductors and involving voltages of
not more than 1000 V, in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical
Code, Part I.
1.2
This Part of the Standard does not apply to ballasts intended for use in cold
cathode, luminous tube (neon), and xenon lamps as specified in CSA Standard
C22.2 No. 13.
Part 3--Ancillary Equipment--Starters, Holders
1.1
These requirements apply to starters of both the automatic and manual types
that are intended for use in conjunction with fluorescent ballasts covered in
Part I of this Standard for the operation of preheat type electric-discharge
lamps, in accordance with the Rules of Part I of the Canadian Electrical Code.
