Design Guidelines for Telecommunications Wiring Systems in Commercial Buildings
1. Scope 1.1 This Standard prescribes requirements covering uniform wiring systems for telecommunications within a commercial building, up to and including the telecommunications outlet, and between commercial buildings to the extent of a campus type environment. 1.2 This Standard prescribes a wiring system with recommended topology and distances. 1.3 This Standard specifies wire/cable by parameters which determine performance and specific connectors and their pin assignments, to ensure interconnectability. 1.4 The requirements identify a need for due consideration to the flexibility and functional aspects during design stages. 1.5 Limitations 1.5.1 The wiring requirements prescribed do not violate requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1. 1.5.2 This Standard does not provide the technical requirements for the installation of the wiring. 1.5.3 This Standard does not provide requirements for safety to the user.
