1.1 This standard applies to two types of distillate fuels. Type A and Type b which are suitable for high speed diesel engines, e.g. those that generally operate at speeds in excess of 1200 r/min. 1.2 Type A is intended for use in engines such as urban transit buses and passenger automobiles or when ambient temperatures require better low temperature properties than Type B. Type B is intended for engines in service involving relatively high loads as found in industrial and heavy mobile equipment such as intercity trucks and construction equipment, when ambient temperatures allow.
