1.1 This standard applies to petroleum distillate fuel for naval use. 1.2 Intended Uses - Fuel described by this standard is intended for use in marine applications (naval) such as boilers, gas turbine power plants, and high and medium speed internal combustion engines of the compression-ignition type operating at an ambient temperature greater than -12 degrees C. Fuel to this standard in not intended for use in aircraft turbine engines.
