Luminaires
1. Scope 1.1 This Standard applies to electric luminaires for indoor, outdoor, and ingound use, in nonhazardous lications, intended for installation on branch circuits of not more than 600 V between conductors and involving voltages of not more than 15 000 V, in accordance with the Rules of the Canadian Electrical code, Part I. 1.2 This Standard applies to luminaires having incandescent, fluorescent, and high-intensity discharge (including cold-cathode and low-pressure sodium) lamps. 1.3 This Standard applies to portable luminaires not included in the Scope of the CSA Standard C22.2 No. 12. 1.4 Luminaires intended for use in hospitals may also be required to meet the applicable requirements to CSA Standard C22.2 No. 125. (See Item (e) of Clause 5.3) 1.5 This Standard does not apply to Lighting Devices covered by CSA Standard C22.2 Nos. 2, Electric Signs; 7, Portable Electric Displays; 12, Portable Luminaires; 37, Christmas Tree and Other Decorative Lighting Outfits; 46, Combination Fan/IR Lamps Used for Heating; 89, Submersible Luminaires; 125, Therapeutic Lamps; 137, Luminaires for Hazardous Locations; 141, Unit Equipment for Emergency Lighting; 166, Stage and Studio Luminaires. 1.6 This Standard does not apply to luminaires covered by Electrical Bulletings 1017A, Requirements for Extra-Low-Voltage Incandescent Lighting Fixtures (nominally 12 Volts) for Recreational Vehicles; 1157, Certification Requirements for Extra-Low-Voltage Fluorescent Lighting Fixtures (nominally 12 Volts) for Recreational Vehicles.
