1.1 Applies to black chemical finish for use on copper and copper alloy surfaces. 1.2 Intended Uses - Finishes to this standard are for decorative or corrosion retardant purposes on copper-alloy surfaces, except those used in food service or water supply. The ability of the finish to retard corrosion is limited, and so should be used on items not subject to corrosion, such as small hardware items manufactured for attachment to equipment, buckles, clips, snaps, etc. When specified, the finish may be used as a base for subsequent coatings such as lacquer, varnish, oil, and wax.
