1. SCOPe 1.1 This Standard covers construction and performance requirements for Central and Monitoring Station burglar alarm units including signal receiving, recording and supervisory units intended for permanent use within an alarm receiving station. It also covers associated burglar alarm units to be installed within mercantile and banking premisses and on safes and vaults for protection against burglary. 1.2 These requirements also serve as the basis of classification of central and monitoring station burglar alarm systems. Requirements covering the complete systems are contained in CAN/ULC-S301-M88, Standard for Central and Monitoring Station Burglar Alarm Systems. Refer to Appendix A and Appendix b for Tables of Features of Security Alarm Systems. 1.3 Protective devices installed on individual properties are classified as to extent of protection at each location. Rules covering installation and classification (of extent) of alarm protective equipment at individual locations are contained in ULC-S302-1974, Standard for Installation and Classification of Mercantile and Bank Burglar Alarm Systems, which should be consulted by burglar alarm installers.
