1. Scope 1.1 This Standard applies to devices designed for installation on road motor vehicles to provide a daytime running light function where the vehicle is not factory-equipped with a daytime running light system. Note: This Standard has been harmonized as far as practicable with the applicable Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations. 1.2 This Standard covers the minimum electrical, mechanical, and luminous performance requirements for daytime running lights and daytime running light systems. 1.3 The types of systems covered by this Standard are listed in Table 1. 1.4 The systems covered by this Standard may consist of a control unit only or a control unit and separate lamps.
