1. Scope 1.1 This Standard sets forth safety requirements and standards for the sub-assemblies and assemblies of regular bicycles, as well as recommended safety measures for their use and care. 1.2 Special bicycles, such as track bicycles design for use on racing tracks and which may not have a normal braking system or other operating systems deemed essential by the authority having jurisdiction, are specifically excluded from the scope of this Standard. 1.3 The purpose of this Standard is to help prevent injury and property damage, and to help provide maximum safety for bicycle users.
