1. Scope 1.1 This Standard prescribes requirements for solid mild steel filler metals* for use with the Gas Metal-Arc (GMAW) process and also the Gas Tungsten Arc (GTAW) and Plasma Arc Welding (PAW) processes. This Standard is not intended to cover submerged-arc welding electrodes. *When used for GMAW the filler metal is referred to as electrodes; When used for GTAW and PAW the filler metal is referred to as welding rods. 1.2 Where reference is made to other publications, such reference shall be considered to refer to that edition of such publication and any revisions thereto approved by the organization issuing that publication.
