These requirements cover the construction and test of key-locked safes, Class
KL.
1.2
BURGLARY CLASSIFICATION KL - Signifies a key-locked safe designed to provide a
limited amount of resistance to all commonly known methods of burglarious
attack except by means of oxy-fuel gas torches and high explosives. Such safes
are intended primarily for the protection of daily cash deposits.
1.3
These safes are either anchored in a concrete block when shipped from the
factory or have provision for anchoring on the premises in which they are to be
used. The manufacturer's instructions for mounting are to be carefully
followed to secure the proper measure of protection against theft of the entire
safe.
1.4
If a value for measurement as given in these requirements is followed by an
equivalent value in other units, the first stated value is to be regarded as
the requirement. A given equivalent value may only be approximate.
