Test methods for determining the service performance of enamels are specified, i.e. for determining whether an enamel resists the specified treatment. The procedure insolve treatment for specified periods with an alkine detergent at 80 degrees centigrade and a dilute acid solution at room temperature.
The rules and conventions established are intended for particular use with drawings for laboratory glassware or glassware in other technical fields. Optical parts are not included. The figures merely illustrate the text and should not be considered design examples. They are simplified and not to ecale.

The requirements specify a series of plastic cylinders having a tapered ore non-tapered form. The capacity is in the range from 25 ml to 5000 ml. For non-opaque beakers the graduation is specified. The construction, dimensions and material are described. The annexes deal with the test for ionic material extracted by water and with the flexibility test.
Six preferred sizes are defines by their internal bowl diameter. General design are shown in a figure and the dimensions are tabled. The material shall be general non-brittle plastics.
