CSA B-79A

TIL CSA B-79A replaces TIL CSA B-79 which was published in April, 2010, to deal with the safety of retrofitted luminaires, including products employing light-emitting-diode (LED) lamp technologies, with or without a driver or power supply, or intended for direct connection to the mains or to a lamp holder. At the time of publication of TIL CSA B-79, CSA standards for LED lighting equipment and LED lamps were not fully developed, and the TIL was issued to provide interim certification requirements. Since the publication of TIL CSA B-79, CSA standards applicable to LED lighting equipment and self-ballasted LED lamps have been developed to cover particular requirements formerly addressed in TIL CSA B-79. At the request of industry and regulatory authorities, TIL CSA B-79A is being issued to align requirements for LED retrofit kits with current standards covering LED lighting equipment and LED lamps.
