Interim Certification Requirements for Marine Shipboard Cables

This Technical Information Letter specifies the requirements for distribution (power), control and signal cables intended for installation aboard commercial ships and mobile offshore drilling units in accordance with recommended industry practice and the regulations of authorities having jurisdictions (AHJ). These installations are outside the scope of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC). However, cables that meet the requirements for use within the CEC scope maybe additionally marked with the appropriate type as recognized by the CEC. These cables are single or multi-conductor construction, with or without metal armour, and with or without an overall jacket, rated up to 15 kV.
